Ahead of its release later this month, CD Projekt Red has clarified what we can expect from Cyberpunk 2077's huge 2.0 update. In other words, the developer has outlined which big changes will be free via the patch, and which adjustments will be part of the paid Phantom Liberty expansion.
Just to be clear, there hasn't really been any misinformation or anything like that, but fans have been wondering whether certain changes will be deployed prior to the DLC's launch on the 26th September. The good news is that the most impactful gameplay updates are coming in 2.0. That's your complete skill tree overhaul, and the new systems for cyberware, police, vehicle combat, and loot. The game's new radio stations will be added through the patch as well.
Meanwhile, the new Dogtown district, its characters, storylines, and quests, are obviously locked behind Phantom Liberty. The repeatable vehicle and airdrops missions are linked to the DLC too, and so is the all-new Relic skill tree (which actually ties into the expansion's plot). What's more, you can only hit the new level 60 cap with Phantom Liberty installed.
Here's the official list from CDPR:

As previously reported, we don't know the exact release date for 2.0, but we do know that it's launching "a bit before" Phantom Liberty. CDPR has another gameplay livestream lined up for the near future, so we'd probably bet on the update dropping when the next show rolls around — or thereabouts.

I'm really excited to just cause mayhem and see how long I can hold out GTA style with the update. I also might start a new game sometime next year with a melee build. Anyway it's a great time to be a Cyberpunk fan!
I really hope the city becomes a bit more populated. I rather having it looking a little worse and more lively. The last time I played it it felt so empty and dead I stopped playing because of it.. It takes you out of the experience
I’m actually excited to finally play this game. It’s good that I waited, so I’ll get a much better experience than the mess it was at launch, with much lower expectations than the hype that was built up before release. I’ll still wait a bit longer, so that they’ll have time to patch the DLC and the 2.0 patch. 😉
Hopefully the game continues to receive heavy discounts on PS Store sales. I’m interested to play it post-update but the full price ship has sailed for me.
Really hyped on this, I played Cyberpunk 2077 after the RayTracing update and it was one of the most enjoyable experience of 2022, so bring it on.
On another topic, I'm surprised PushSquare hasn't reported on the fact The Chinese Room is now developing Vampire : The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2... Isn't it major news?
@Impossibilium Me too! I’m doing the exact same thing and I’m so glad I waited so long to start this one. As soon as patch 2.0 drops, I’m in. Well, if I’ve finished Final Fantasy XVI by then, that is!
Feel like this update has been on the horizon for so long now. Bring it on.
I’m looking forward to another playthrough of this. Really enjoyed it the first time and this should make it even better
Well i'm buying the DLC this week when pay day hits so i shell get everything. Really glad they turned it around as its a pretty fantastic game.
I played 2077 when it first came out and put in around 140 hours before hitting a bug that meant that I was unable to continue a particular mission, and which then prevented me from undertaking any further bounties (because I hadn't completed the most recent one). So, whilst I could have continued playing the game, it would have cut off a significant portion of it, losing me credits, XP, and other rewards. Thus, I took the difficult decision to set the game to one side with the view to starting from scratch once the DLC had dropped.
Now that the DLC is due, and I have it pre-ordered, I find myself with two massive games to complete first; namely Baldur's Gate 3 on my PC, and then Starfield on my Xbox. I mean, it's a great time to be a gamer, but boy, there just isn't enough time in the day... 😂
I've had Phantom Liberty pre-ordered for a while, so obviously I'm really looking forward to it as Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favorite games of this gen so far.
With that said, I'm not sure if I will do a second playthrough of the game first with all of the changes and then go into the DLC or not. I've been wanting to do a second playthrough with a female character for a while now, but with all of the changes coming and other games I have to play, I decided to wait until the update dropped.
Like others have stated, I did the right thing by waiting.. almost pulled the trigger on it a few months ago due to no backlog (an idle PlayStation is just a piece of furniture).. but the day before I got paid I saw news about 2.0 and DLC so I’ve been more than ready.. September is all Mortal Kombat and Cyberpunk for me.. but ffs I hope 2.0 gets here soon cuz I have an RPG itch that really needs to be scratched
what this game really needs is a third person view. I was hoping for this but was disappointed. There's no reason for me to play it again, but I admire the developer's effort supporting the game anyway.

I’m super excited for this! Absolutely loved the game, warts and all. Now I just need to decide whether to start a new play through or not.
Just started CP a week ago, only played for an hour or so. But may start a fresh new character when the update lands. Not sure if it’ll make much difference now as just learning the ropes anyway.
Is Phantom Liberty a 'Set after the end credits' DLC or a 'Fits in the middle of the main story' DLC?
@Fyz306903 the latter I suppose, they confirmed it to have another ending
I still have my unplayed preordered copy of CyberPunk, awaiting the day for it to finally be optimal to play. Of course now that the time has come, I don’t know if I’ll have the time to play it right when it comes out with so many new games to play and review. The game release calendar finally starts to ease up a little bit in December but then of course it’s the Holidays. Either way, I’m looking forward to finally playing this game in peak form.
@Fyz306903 Yeah it takes place during the main story. It unlocks around the Voodoo Boys chapter of the main quest.
@Fyz306903 Apparently, you need to have been to Pacifica, at least.
Or you can launch a new game beginning directly at the DLC (like it was for the Witcher 3 DLCs).

So, so stoked for this! Probably going to start a fresh play through once 2.0 drops.
So glad I decided to wait to play CP2077. Really looking forward to it now.
Sounds like this is finally going to become the game it was hyped up to be.
Hopefully we get at least a week with 2.0 before the DLC drops.
@Olmaz I'm still waiting for them to post articles on Destiny 2's next expansion as well as Warframe's future updates and Digital Extremes's next game.
Wasn’t the “relic” tree always hinted?
In the attribute tree there was always at the bottom the relic.
I always wondered if it would ever unlock.
@Fiendish-Beaver I've got Starfield coming the 6th for the Xbox, based on what I've read so far in simply going to have to ignore everything else for 3 months I think. Not to mention I still want to play Hogwarts, Ragnarok, RE4 and I had a save on PS5 and Steamdeck for 2077 DLC, but I'll probably end up trying a new game. I still really want to finish Skyrim eventually too.......... I've got to set rules or I'll never play everything I want
@Powerplay94 you are about 2 years too late to jump on the cyberpunk basher train but better late than never i guess👍. On a more positive note i'll get the dlc for cyberpunk. Not quite sure when i'll get round to actually playing it but at least my winter months are going to be gaming bliss.
@Powerplay94 yeah i get it and no offence meant. I just think after 2 years that everything that should have been there from day 1 has just about been covered by everybody and its almost becoming a meme now.
@The_Pixel_King @Impossibilium Likewise. Glad I held odd and looking forward to finally getting round to play this soon, albeit 3 years later. Though I don't quite know when, the calendar seems stacked right now
@Impossibilium I echo your comments and might play on PlayStation Portal first.
To be honest, the only addition that would truly wow me is a third person mode, or at least third person conversations - similar to the Deus Ex games
@Pranwell I’m one of those gamers who LIKE the looter/shooters.. aside from Mortal Kombat I’m mainly an RPG focused person ie God of War Assassins Creed Far Cry.. not into racing games, sports games, anime, platformers, army types, or top down games like soul caliber..
My main course is 3D Zelda types.. but with Spider-Man, Cyberpunk, Alan Wake coming soon I’ll no longer be bored.. hopefully lol
From my experience with Witcher 3 i knew CdPR would get the game to where it should have been from release. Think people forget how rocky Witcher 3 was at release. Have been waiting for an ultimate release with the DLC included.
Endless dynamic events should have been for free.
I wouldn't trust this lot as far as can kick em. Don't fall for the shiny dangling keys
